The floor
lamp ICE CUBE in the form of a cube on a shaft and without
any superfluous details appears light, clear and elegant.
The main elements are narrow rectangular steel strips
forming the shaft and a translucent satin- finish cube.
The gleaming cube is clamped to the shaft enabling the
height of the light cube to be adjusted freely. The foot
is a square steel plate upon which the shaft is attached.
The developers of ICE CUBE
tried a new approach during the design process. Only a few
months ago, the Dulux T/E 57 Watt compact fluorescent lamp
made by Osram was launched onto the market. Using a newly
developed compact fluorescent lamp allows that the shape
of the lamp`s crown to be reduced from the usual oblong
form to that of a cube. A clever use of reflectors enables
the use of only two lamps for direct and indirect
lightening which resulted in an optimal light level while
halving the energy costs compared to conventional standard
lamps. The direct component provides efficient, low-loss
illumination directly for the workstation, while the
indirect component brightens up the room. The combination
makes ICE CUBE especially suitable for group offices, home
offices, reception areas or call centres.
