GreenLight is a voluntary programme where private and public organisations commit towards the European Commission to upgrade their existing lighting and to design new installations, using energy efficient lighting systems wherever and whenever (1) the energy savings justify the investment and (2) the lighting quality is maintained or improved. GreenLight was officially launched on 7 February 2000 and will run for five years (2000-2004).

The objectives of the GreenLight programme are:

  • to reduce the energy consumption from lighting throughout Europe, thus reducing polluting emissions and limiting the global warming.
  • To improve the quality of working conditions

  • ... while saving money !
